Christian Life Balance

With so much that is going on and so many choices and voices that are calling out for our attention, it is important that we really have clarity surrounding how we live our lives.  The focus here is on:

– approaching our lives through the lens of our identity as children of God, and

– applying Christian Biblical principles to and in our daily living.

Christian Life Balance therefore seeks to align our daily activities with our calling as God’s children.

Christian life Balance is about seeking to live every aspect of life God’s way.

The aim is to go:

– from a reactive state of trying to juggle and address all the responsibilities that may get thrown at us,  to a proactive state, consciously  getting involved in making informed decisions regarding how we utilize our time.

Life balance does not mean that we will evenly distribute our time across our responsibilities, but rather life balance is about realistically identifying the best ways to allocate our time as needs and responsibilities change; so that our time investment in our responsibilities will be done based on the priorities at the point in time.

Life balance is not a one-time event but rather life balance is a journey. So life balance is more about seeking harmony, since responsibilities will vary and even will change based on the stages that we are at in our lives.  And when I think of harmony, I think of how God has designed the different components of nature to come together to produce such beauty – bringing joy into our lives.

So our responsibilities though varied, when carried out can also bring joy. Life balance is an approach that says, how can I be more conscious about how I utilize my time and in making plans for my life?

So, because we recognize that challenges do come, Christian Life Balance is also about not leaving the life we live to chance, but instead we:

– prayerfully seek God’s guidance, and

– intentionally plan and implement strategies to live meaningful, fulfilled and productive lives.

In Acts 17:28 we are told, ‘for in Him we live, and move, and have our being ….. for we are also His offspring’; and 1 John 4:9 tells us, ‘in this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.’

So intentional living is possible because of the life that God has given to us.

1 Corinthians 6: 19 and 20 tells us, ‘what? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s’.

These verses reassures that our lives are not random occurrences.

We also recognize that we cannot have life outside of God.

In Romans 12:2 we are told, ‘and be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.’

God guides us on the journey of transformation, and on this journey we experience joy.

Christian Life Balance is on the basis that we recognize that we belong to God.

Thankfully on the life balance journey, we can find and apply practical solutions one step at a time, one project at a time, one change at a time to move forward in Christ.

Be Blessed
